Question:

Eating in Dublin on a Budget?

My husband and I are currently planning our first trip abroad, to Dublin, but I am a bit concerning about the price of eating out there. Does anyone know of any good restaurants with meals that cost 10 Euros or less per person (in Dublin or accessible by bus/rail)?

Thanks in advance.

  1. Mcdonalds!!

sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Dublin is the 2nd dearest capital city in europe, behind amsterdam.

typical meal in McDs will be around 8/9euros

  2. Fast food is always a good bet, and the Bad *** Cafe is goodd as well

    Have fun!!

  3. In fairness it is probably difficult enough to get a meal for 10euro that is not fast food type or pasta or pizza in most countries. Have a look at menupages.ie and it will show the menus with prices for all budgets.

  4. Unfortunately it is true, Europe in general is very expensive these days! And, if you are coming from the U.S. the dollar is doing terrible which makes your trip there even more dear! McDonald's and those places are probably the cheapest, however don't eat at those places! You want to eat to experience the culture.  For instance when I was in Dublin last time we were walking around and my husband sees the Starbuck's and says let's go have coffee.  And I see the Bewley's coffee house and said let's have Bewley's instead, I can get Starbucks in America anytime! See my point? We ate at several pub/restaurants walking around downtown for about $12 a plate, put a beer on there and you are looking at 17 EUROS which is probably equivalent to $25 american dollars right? Good luck!

  5. Good restaurant?  Less than 10 Euro?  Fish-n-chips ... that'd be your best bet.

  6. Mc Donalds, Burger king, Kfc!  Your choice!

  7. ye the first person is right. mcdonalds, burger king or pizza hut would probably be you best bet for a cheap meal. Its a really expensive city but you shouldn't let that put you off. Ots a nice city just really overpriced

  8. Dublin is, indeed, a VERY expensive place for dining, where a typical three-course meal is likely to set you back 20-30 euros. Generally speaking, there's two options for eating out on the cheap in Ireland: pub grub -- most places will serve something that's not half bad -- or a chip shop (keep in mind it's an island, after all, so quality seafood is relatively cheap). My personal favorite is Beshoff's, which is right on O'Connell Street across from the General Post Office.
