Ecar insurance what are they like ?

Question

Hi I was just on confused.com looking for a few quotes on my car insurance and ecar have come up the cheapest by far, the thing is we have never heard of them and we would like to know if anyone else is with them and are they reliable etc.

Any information you can give me will be great thanks

Ecar are an Australian company and are one of the biggest insurers in Australia. They recently branched out in to New Zealand and were successful, so they have now decided to set up in the UK and test the UK market. The UK branch is still pretty new, so I can't really tell you how reliable they are, but it is worth bearing in mind that the cheapest insurance is not always the best.

I had insurance through an independent agent for many years and like many people today, switched to Geico to save money.  A couple years later my husband totalled my vehicle and Geico seriously ripped me off on what they paid.  I know they pay "actual cash value" but they paid $3000 below what the vehicle was appraised for!!!!!!!!!  Because I didnt have an agent, or money to hire a lawyer, I didn't have anyone to represent me and was stuck dealing with it.  Lesson learned, cheaper is not always better!!!!

LOL never heard of them BUT when it comes to getting my car fixed i would want

A) a reputable company

and

B) a company that is IN THE US ( if i live in the US )

but a company based out of Australia and recently branched out in to New Zealand probably dont have the same ideas as US companies . . . i suggest trying http://www.CompareINS.us or something like http://www.COMPAREeQUOTES.com they claim to have the lowest rates AND display well known insurance companies, although some of the quotes maybe a few pennies more . . . when your car gets vandalized you know it will get fixed
