  1. Yes.  But, it won't be defined as such for a couple of months because it has to be two 3 month periods of declining real GDP.


  2. No technically we are in a "economic slow down". A recession is usually identified with a sharp increase in unemployment. So far this has not happened yet so we are not in a recession.
