Eighties Sweet Sixteen Bash!?

Question

My two friends and I are having a combined Sweet Sixteen 80s birthday, and we need some help!

When you think of the eighties, what do you think of?

What kind of decorations should I have?

Music?

Outfits?

Cake ideas?

Anything you can think of is greatly appreciated!!

hmmm 80's huh?  i would say madonna, tiffany, ub40, boy george, men at work as far as music.  outfits would be either parachute pants, bandanas, 501's jeans, shirts with the collars up, big hair in the front (bangs).  i have nothing for cake ideas or decorations.

watch 13 going on 30. have a sleepover and then come up with ideas with them after the movie.

i'd suggest getting the soundtrack to the movie..

heart, blondie, aerosmith.. go to pandora.com or ask your parents.

for a cake.. make a record.. you can make it dark blue if black icing sounds gross..

you can even have the movie playing at the party! you'll get bunches of good ideas from that! good luck!!

Well, when i think about the 80's, i think about my childhood. :)

But generally when i think about it, i think about the best decade of music, not a very good decade for fashion, LOL., leg warmers, jelly shoes, Back to the Future, Pretty in Pink, Sweet Sixteen (movies) decade for some of the best movies, Friendship beads.

Decorations, hmmm....anything to do with the 80's i suposse.

Music, thats easy, 80's music, Madonna, Prince, Human League, Bryan Adams, Duran Duran, Rick Springfield, Culture Club, anything you can find on an 80's music marathon or station.

Outfits, leg warmers, mini skirts, fingerless gloves, ripped jean jackets, frilly skirts, teases/punky hairstyles with a lot of hairspray. :)

Cake, decorated with symbols from the 80's tho i can't think of any right now.

I think of fun music, big poofy dresses, colorful makeup, and just having a crazy fun night.

Decorations: um..thats hard..bright balloons..

Music: stick with the decade and have 80's music, then later in the night you could have newer music

Outfits: defiantly traditional 80's, a dress with big shoulders, bright 80's makeup! BIG teased hair wtih a ton of hairspray

Cake: I would do some kid of game that came out in the 80's, like Rubik's cube, pacman, or something like that.

have cookies that look like CD's and decorated cupcakes, also say all girls must wear poodle kirts, maybe send ut cheap plain poodle skirts w/ the invites that girls can decorate and wear, how cool would that be. And def 80's music!

Decor:  balloon arch.  Get someone to take pics under it.

              neon lights, strobe light, mirror ball.  

Music:  Erasure, Madonna, George Michael, that whole scene.  don't forget "Come On Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight Runners, "Karma Cameleon" too!  Peter Gabriel's "In your eyes" makes a good slow song.

Outfits:  decide to do 80's formal, or 80's club:  

          80's formal is fun with pink taffeta dresses with puffy sleaves.  

          80's club, get out your hair crimper, put on leather and lace.. leg warmers, gloves,--- watch some old madonna videos or old "brat pack" movies like "better off dead" "sixteen candles" "breakfast club", etc.

Cake:  Has to be round, white frosting, pink roses.  Watch the last scene of "sixteen candles"
