Question:

Electric guitarzs?

I'm looking to buy myself an electric guitar soon but I don't have any experience at all with them which would cause some problems when it comes time for me to choose one. I need information from someone who actually plays the electric guitar and can point me in the right direction as to which guitar I should buy.

First of all, the kind of music I'd like to play ismetal death metal-ish kind of stuff, so anything that makes that kind of sound would be great. I also need an AMP I guess... Tell me everything I'll need because I don't know :-(

I'd like to not have to spend *too much* money on all of this since I am going to be a beginner (20 years old; Yeah, it sucks to be a beginner at that age. Wish I could have learned earlier.)

Any information I get is helpful. Thanks!

  1. rather than just point you to a particular brand, I'll point out some details.

go for a Gibson or Les Paul with a hum-buckler pickup.  this gives the notes a cleaner sound.

thats assuming that you want a clean sound in death metal of course.  I haven't heard to much of it personally.

  2. you're in the wrong forum to ask this question.

  3. i got the electric guitar which looks like this:

    http://www.impexol.cn/Files/UpFiles/Spor...

my suggestions 4 u are these ones:

    http://www.codesimian.com/electricGuitar...

but that one will probably cost alot

the one i bought was only $300

but i had 2 buy the amp

i saw a deal with the whole pack which had:

*begginers guitar (looks like my guitar)

    *amp

    *5 picks

    and that only cost 300

reason y my one cost more is coz it was more better than the deal's guitar

  4. That easy... u may find your complete electric guitar set with cheap. less than 200 dollar and the basic set is come with guitar, amp 10 watt.. that enough for you as beginner..

    you may looking at www.ebay.com

there are many brand of manufacture such as fender.

and you may interest 2nd hand electric guitar in good quality and more cheapest for you..

p/s... i just bought one from there.. usb electric guitar and no need amp just connect to my pc and use my altec lansing speaker as output and use their software for more powerful experience playing guitar..

  5. For metal, any guitar with a humbucker pickup is going to do well for you.  For your first guitar it doesn't matter too much what brand or any details beyond that.  Just get a guitar with at least one humbucker.

Cheap amps tend to have really crappy distortion, which is not good for metal, you need some distortion with balls.  So, I agree with Mike above, when you buy your amp take a look at some distortion pedals to go with it, personally I like the Boss DS-1.

Again like Mike said, if you live near a guitar center, they are great "try before you buy" store.  Also they have a no questions asked 30 day return policy which is nice.

If you live near a city with a craigslist website, that is a great site to find used gear.  Used gear is tricky because you can't return it and it may be defective in ways you are not experienced enough to find until it's too late.  I would personally go with a store bought guitar for your first axe.

  6. b.c. rich has some very nice metal looking and sounding guitars. Besides that i'd say go with any kind of guitar and get the Boss metal pedal (black distortion, very very heavy) if you want grindage. If you've got the money go to guitar center, if not you should go their anyways and check out their equip. (always good staff).

I've gotten all my electric guitars from pawn shops they're always cheap there and in my case reliable (amps too), just make sure you inspect whatever you buy. good luck

  7. Don't go cheap on an electric guitar.  The most important thing on a guitar is the Action, which is the straightness of the neck and the distance from the frets to the strings.  The better it is, the easier it is to play - and to learn.  My first guitar was almost a cigar box - paid $5 for it.  That was OK for about six months. My second guitar was a Les Paul Goldtop.

  8. i have a [[squier strat]] fender

    its amazing

    =]

    it wasnt all tht cheap

    but it wasnt super expensive

    i luv it
