a current of 13.6 A passes through a baseboard heater when it is connected to a 110 V wall outlet. What is the power of the heater?

  1. 110 x 13.8 = 1518 watts


  2. The power formula is P=IE or PIE  

    where P is expressed in Watts

    I is expressed in Amps

    and E is expressed in Volts

    Watts = 13.6 Amps X 110V

    1496 watts

    Now most households have up to 120V coming out of the wall so it may be as high as 1632 Watts

    Just for giggles here is another equation:  E=IR or the Earth Is Round

    E=Volts

    I=Amps

    R=Resistance

    We assume that you have 110V from the wall and 13.6A heater  so with that we know the heater has an 8 Ohm resistor.
