Definitely the elephant if a full grown crocodile won't even dare get close to a hippo what makes you think a crocodile would get close to an elephant.

ummm, as soon as you can explain how a Corocodile could possibly come close to taking down an elephant.. It might be a reasonable question. If a croc bit down on an elephant while getting a drink of water the elephant would just back up and drag the croc out of the water and stomp it.

Elephant, hands down. If the croc could even get a hold of it, the elephant with swing the croc around and eventually kill it.
