Question:

Elevator houses in Holland?

I saw on television a program about how Holland is trying to push back the sea and claim more land for development. The houses that will be built will be able to rise and fall should the sea level rise and inundate the area. Does any one know where this is happening?

  1. The Dutch have been building barge housing for a long time, and they do rise with rising water.

We observed a barge house that had risen with spring flood and then when the flood subsided some earth had filled in under one end so the barge was way up on one end and down the other.

They were using a fire hose to wash out the earth  to get it down level. But as they got it down they discovered that the hull had been damaged and needed to be welded.
