Emergency!! My horse....?

Question

We own race horses and Broodmare's. Our 1-2 year old still has her long shaggy hair. We've done everything to try and cure her. We have no clue what is wrong with her. Please help!! We had our vet check her out, but it must be something internal. HELP!!

she's probably got a mineral/vitamin deficiency.  my gelding used to do the same thing, until i put a mineral block out and then he started to shed right out.  you also might try grooming her twice a day, it might help the shedding process kick in.

if the vet's not worried about it, i wouldn't freak out.

Selinuim,iron and vitamin E. Check your suppliments, but selinium is safe at lower doses and linked to hair retention. Shes young and growing, just needs a boost. You'll be very suprised.

Its not an emergancy! you'r vet would of spotted that. Late foals like november babies often hang onto hair.. its a nutritional situation.

what breed is she? ive seen other horses like this its nothing to worry about its probably a recessive gene that doesent show much in horses just ask the vet what he thinks you should do no need to loadem up just askem

it sounds like it could be acouple of things, are you currying on her to loosen the hair up. If so how about worming are you doing that, and finally have your vet draw blood and check the thyroid I have found that often times a thyroid disorder will keep a horse from letting its coat go.
