End of the world in 2012?

I have read and seen several videos that are very convinving saying the world will end in 2012. I personally think and believe it says in the bible that the end will come when you least expect it, if this is true then i dont think it would happen on a day that eveyone is predicting. There are many things that people take out of the bible and say they are predicting the end in our times but honestly most of that stuff can be twisted into meaning whatever you want it too mean. I truly believe only God knows when the end is and the only thing i can do is try to be the best person i can be. Anyway what do you think?

The 2012 theory is based upon junk science that others manipulate to make it appear as scientific. This is for all of the following 2012 so-called events: Planet X, polar shift, asteroid, or biblical.

You can blame it all on the Mayans for all these Doomsday theories. Their Long Count Calendar begins August 11, 3114 B.C. and will end in December 2012. Some people have used the end-date as an indicator of Doomsday and a catalyst to propose their theory of a biblical or tragic event occurring on various days during the year 2012.

The Mayans had to stop sometime; after all, the calendar was chiseled in stone and went out 5,125 years.

Fear nor for 2012 is just the revealing of the 'antichrist' or the 'man of lawlessness' at the middle of what Jews and Christians call the 7 year Tribulation. Satanists and many pagan cultures from every corner of the world all throughout history have celebrated this like  the Sumerians, Babylonians, Cherokee, Hopi, Chinese I-Ching (confirmed by Terence McKenna), Mayans (Pacal Votan), Egyptians, Celts, etc. This evil event is called "the abomination that causes desolation" that will be set up in the Jewish Temple’s Holy of Holies when the antichrist is imbued with the power of satan himself. When will Yeshua Ha'Mashiach (Jesus) come? Only God Himself knows, but very soon. If you believe or not, that is up to you; either way it still comes.

This particular one has achieved such recognition because it is the first time a television network has aired these kinds of claims.  The History Channel docu8mentary didn't have a single scientific argument critical of the claims, yet they were utter bunk.  This network, which will apparently surrender any semblance of ethics to commercial gain, has aired this idiotic documentary several times.  Personally, I'd like to see a class action lawsuit brought against them for child abuse.

Since the documentary, every nut who likes scaring people has put his or her own twist on the original BS.  Now the I-Ching and Nostradamus fans have jumped in along with the bible code crowd and any other ancient thing they can think of and make up anything they want about.  Absolutely none of it is true.  People will come here very confidently claiming alignments, polar shifts, disaster from the non-existent Nibiru, etc., etc.  I wonder why they do that when they certainly must realize they don't have any idea what they are talking about.

The Internet has aided in the power of this hype, as you might expect.  There is no legitimate scientist anywhere in the world who supports this malarkey.  I know for a fact that there is no truth to the claims.  I didn't need some anonymous uncredentialed person's web site to tell me what I know.

Relax.  There is no reason whatsoever to believe that anything disastrous is going to happen in that year, or any *other* specific year, for that matter.  Read this article.  It's convincing too.  Only problem is that it was a prediction of doom for 2003 and the morons haven't even taken it down yet!

Edit: We know very well about asteroids and large meteoroids which are in near earth orbit.  Some of these might be city-killers but not planet killers.  NONE of them are expected to be near us in 2012.  The years 2029 and 2036 will be close passes.  No doubt, the doomsday people will move right on to making one of those dates the end of the world, once this 2012 date has come and gone.

since you are looking at this in a religious perspective, there is no way to really answer your question.  If you were thinking in a logical and scientific way, it would be easier for you to understand.  religion needs to stay out of science.  all science is the same, all religions are not.  remember, the book you read was written by a man not by a diety.  and the Mayans sure as heck werent Christian so you cant connect that date with your beliefs  open your mind without religion to find the truth

Convincing depends on the viewer. And the bible says a lot, which even the pope does not believe. I would always remember Galileo:

2012 is not more likely to be the end of the world as 2009. The idea, that the world might end by the turning of the long-count of the Mayan calender, for example, is not from the Mayas. It was created by a drugged new age prophet in the 1970s.

And scientists can afford to be wrong. Even the asteroid Apophis is currently only having a 1:45000 chance to hit Earth, and if it hits, would most likely not even cause heavy damage - except it hits a metropolis. But the chance for that is even far lower as 1:45000.

The world has so far survived far worse stuff as a 300m asteroid.

Iv came across so many people saying that now there are like all these knew calendars, let me tell you something this is not true the world will not end it cant. People say the US stock market has crashed the world is over. First of all US stock market hasnt crashed lol! because ill tell u what when it does the world will end. Basically what im trying to say is that the media is trying to feed you lies into A) watching there programs B) buying there stupid books or C) just scaring you. People say that the history channel said all this c**p that must be true. Once again history channel doesnt do there own reseach i can bet you a lot of money saying people come in with there theorys and literally pay them just to post it on there channel so people buy there books and then they profit. All of you ask people 70+ and see what there gonna say. They are the smartest most wise people on this earth. and i can bet you 90% will say thats the dumbest thing we have heard. About every 10 years some new thing comes up about world ending. Nasa does think and is pretty sure we will a line up with the sun and milky way, So what it was like thousands of years ago when people didnt know what and solar eclipse was. And also iv heard so many stuff that mayans calendar have been wrong and doesnt even exits. And its been to long they cant tell time or should i say the future no one can. How would they know.. And to be honest well i dont believe in them one bit.

It is amazing how convincing false things can be made to seem by people intent on convincing you. Your only defense is knowledge. You need to know enough about astronomy and science in general to be able to tell the difference between amazing but true facts from all the false stories out there. Too many people today do not have enough knowledge of science and technology. They only hear true but amazing stories from good sources and false but equally amazing stories from bad sources, and are totally unable to tell the difference. After all, if one hard to believe thing is true for reasons you don't understand, then another might be too.  But for people who understand astronomy and science reasonably well, these 2012 stories are just hilariously stupid. It is hard to understand how people can be taken in by them sometimes. But 99% of the people are just not interested in science enough to ever learn much. They are too interested in knowing the latest information about the famous rock stars and sports teams and video games and stuff like that. I can't fix that. If you find science boring and uninteresting you will never be motivated to learn enough to tell the difference between the real scientific possibilities for disasters and the false stories like 2012.

I think that obama is the antichrist. What has he done? I haven't done research but I will. I don't want to take what others say as truth. ONLY god's word is the truth and so I need to read up on revelations. No one can give an exact date. Only god the father knows the exact time, and anyone claiming to know WHEN the world is going to end is SOOOOOOOOOOO full of c**p! Read the bible, it's the only source you can count on.

You really have to be open-minded about this issue. I'm a Christian, so I don't believe the world will end in 2012 (because, like you said, only God knows), but I do believe that  maybe something really bad will happen. Perhaps it will be a natural disaster, a virus, a war - I don't know. But the most convincing fact is this:

This event has been predicted by many people across time and space that have never shared their predictions or had any contact with eachother, but they all had the same premonition.

Nostradomus, the Mayan Calendar, Merlin, the Bible Codes - all predicted not only the same year but the same day.

I don't know, but I think that there might be something there. I could be wrong... We'll just have to all wait until 2012 to know for sure.

Not one of those sources predicted December 21, 2012.  She probably read a web site that claimed, "Several world reknowned historical and scientific experts have all agreed that..."  Of course, those claims are lies, too!  Synovia, I will be more than happy to apologize profusely if you can back up the claim that any of those ancient sources predicted anything for 2012.  Show us, please.

I agree...i watched videos on youtube, history channel and in history class. The thing that convinced me that the end of the world is december 21,2012 is that the inca's made the prediction of 2012, and so did other people in europe, including the bible,the inca's were in the americas right, and wasn't discovered till the 15 century(the americas), so how could the people in europe copy or get the same result of an unknown and distant land.So please if u can make me think otherwise please say it cus I'm freaked out. thanks.......:/
