Should gas taxes be raised to encourage energy conservation?

  1. No, because there are no real alternatives at the moment.  More effort should be spent on developing alternative energy sources and then high gas costs will be a natural incentive.

    I should add that there are a few "alternatives" but nothing that could support very many people or decrease the net oil consumption.  For example, an electric car may get you off of gas, but the electric company just burns more to provide you with the energy you need to charge it.


  2. water and power, and everything the economy needs to run on... great!  Economic suicide!

    Not there is anything wrong with that... we are all too materialistic anyways.
