Energy crisis?

how will mankind combat the energy crisis in the future??? tell me any possible ways we can help the energy crisis of the future. thanks. its for a stupid paper for e.s.

We will find unheard of techniques to fix the issues. One I have read a little about is a way to break the carbon from the CO2 creating a loose O2 particle that is a stable particle and a Free carbon that could be "fixed" to more Carbon particles. As you know Carbon pure is called commonly as Coal. That could then be reburned and then re-cleaned so on a so forth. We as a people have always found solutions to our great problems. Starting with elemental protection from the climate, make clothes. Ability to catch food, spears, guns, traps. Process great loads of data, computers, faster and faster.

I was in a climate change conference today at Adelaide Uni and best thing to do is save engergy by turning appliances off when not in use,  use 5 star rating fridges/freezer or other appliances that have those stars on em and heaps more. I can't really put it all on here and I forgot most of what they said

In the short term we need to start doing things energy efficiently.  For example using a bicycle or walking a short trip instead taking a car, sharing car journeys with friends or workmates, turning the air conditioning temperature up, the heating temperature down, turning lighting levels down and using desk lights for reading and work, switching off unused electrical gadgets, etc etc.

In the long term we need to plan for a future without any of these luxuries and prepare ourselves for the culture shock of seeing most of the worlds population eliminated.

There are a couple of proposed energy sources that have only recently been noticed or proposed.

*The Earth's magnetic field- originally sought after by Nikola Tesla, but it is now gaining more recognition than it had fifty years ago.

*Ocean currents- recent proposal which has some funding involved. Search the news in the yahoo search engine for the detailed story.

Personally, I'm trying to see what would happen with superconductivity and electrolysis. It might seem like a mouthful, but it just means I'm trying to get energy by running a current through water. I'm still in the researching and designing stages. Based on what I learned so far, it seems promising.

Raising the efficiency of alternative energy sources (like solar and wind) and giving them a competitive market edge would be helpful to helping the crisis too.

There is a problem though. The fossil fuels (like oil and coal) don't have a lot of competition in the first place. They can easily supress newer technology. The oil companies even make their own alternative energy devices and patent them. This way, they don't have a lot of competition.

The only way I see the energy problem going away is with fusion reactors.
