Energy each year for lights?? HELP!!!!???

This is for a project in school, and i was wondering, if any one knew how much energy is used in a house, or school or anything each year. Please don't put answers like alot, or i donno, this is really important. thanx!

  1. Count how many lights you are using and how many watts they are.

    A 100w light bulb will use 100 watt hours for every hour it is lit.

    Ten 100w lightbulbs burning for one hour will use 1 kilowatt hour of electricity.

    1000 watts = 1 kilowatt.

    1000 kilowatts = 1 megawatt.

    Hope this helps, you should be able to calculate the usage using these values in your equation.


  2. Have your parents show you the hydro bill.  Multiply the number of kilowatt-hours used by 3,600,000 and you will have the total energy in joules.
