Energy optimization in hydrocracker plant........

if i have to do equipment optimization...say on a debautanizer wat do i do?hw do i go about it?wat calculation procedure do i have to follow..please help...

way to big of a question for here.  Lets get some simple stuff.

Look at your products out of the top and bottom, do they meet specifications.  If yes then look ways to recover heat from other places to use to preheat feed or add a second reboiler.

If products are better than specicication, lower the reflux rate, if wosre than specification raise reflux.  If you go over say 3 to 1 reflux, then look for tower issues, flooding, dirty trays, missing or dropped trays.

This could go on forever.

Comper actual data to the original design or to a new silmulation. Then go from there on troubleshooting.
