Engagement Present Ideas?

A really close friend of mine has just got engaged and I was looking for some ideas to what to get her and him but I cant seem to think of any.

Small vase or send flowers. If you want to spend a little you can buy a little crystal or Waterford dish for her to put her wedding rings in. That's pretty common.

I got my friends a bottle of bubbly some flowers and a comedy wedding topper for their cake....I knoew she'd love it.

How about just offering your help with wedding prep such as making invitations or favours. I don't think there is any need to spend a fortune on an engagement pressie.

ok... people will be giving your friend tons of picture frames and photo albums at wedding showers and such. if you are looking for a gift as a 'congrats on the engagement' gift i would suggest a gift certificate to a spa for a couples massage, or pedicure, or a night out at the movies and dinner. Once wedding planning begins money becomes tight and stress levels rise quickly. another option might be things that you know they will need for their home, but i would leave stuff like that for actual wedding showers. I think anything to help them relax would be your best bet! If you can't afford trips to a spa make your own spa basket.... go get a nice basket and head to the local wal-mart or dollar store... look for bath salts, bubble bath, lotions, massage oils, etc, it's super easy to make a gift basket yourself and alot cheaper than buying one premade, and you can always add a special touch like their favorite candy or something.

My fiancee and I just had our engagement party, my favorite gift that we recieved was a wine bottle cheese board.

the wine bottle cheese board is a wine bottle melted flat and my friend had a picture of my fiancee and i put inside it before melting it.  she gave us that with a bottle of champagne in a basket.  it was totally different and my favorite by far!

Kind of depends on what route you want to take:

Weddings take a lot of planning so maybe you could do something to help out with that:

- gift certificates to a wedding shop nearby

- gift certificate to a party shop

- gift certificate to a arts and craft shop if you think she will make her own center pieces or wedding favors, etc.

Or something the couple can use to celebrate the news:

- Dinner to a nice restaurant

- Dinner and a movie

- A package with a Blockbuster gift card, drinks, popcorn, for a night in

- A Picnic package with a basket, plastic eating materials, and a nice blanket

Something for the wedding-

- Personalized wine or shot glasses

- Personalized cake cutter

- Personalized handkerchiefs

- If you had the materials you could offer to do a slide show, photo album, arrangement of pictures to decorate the gift or cake table at the wedding
