Engagment rings for guys?

my boyfriend and I are soon to be engaged and he wants to wear an engagment ring too because it simplifies things for him when other girls are around. i've heard conflicting info on which hand or finger the ring is to be worn ? and is it supposed to be a different or cheaper ring than his wedding ring?

I'd just get an inexpensive sterling silver ring that both of you like, and would ask him to wear it on the wedding ring hand.

This way there is no confusion.

Well since it is not common knowledge for a male to wear an engagement ring, I would suggest he wear it on his ring finger. Girls will then assume he is married. And again, because its not common, the type/price of the ring is your decision. Ask him, does he want a different ring? Or do you just want to buy his band now and have him start wearing it? Then you can get him a nice watch or something for the actual wedding day...that way he still gets something. Seems silly to buy two rings when he will (most likely) only wear one.
