What does it mean by the first meeting held in England of a Parliament?

  1. It could refer to the very first Parliament of Great Britain, which first met on 23 October 1707.  

    However, if it refers to the Parliament of England, the origins of Parliament itself can be traced to the reign of Henry III. There is no exact date for establishment. Arguably, Simon de Montfort summoned the first parliament in England on 14 December 1264. It first met on 20 January 1265 in Leicester and was dissolved on 15 February 1265.

    Montfort's Parliament was not however "official" (without royal assent). Only when Edward I summoned the 'Model Parliament' on 13 November 1295, was such a parliamentary system adopted.
