  1. the answer to your second question is that those writings are the cars make and model for example Chevrolet and Hyundai are the make and the model is the particular name of the car such as civic or sunfire.

  2. Americans wouldn't call that logo in the front a badge, I don't think. If it sticks up, like the Mercedes Benz thing or the Rolls Royce thing, it's called a hood ornament.

If it doesn't stick up, nobody ever really discusses it [it becomes something you never see, like gum on the sidewalk], but if we HAD to name it, we'd call it a logo since it's the design that the marketing department of that particular car manufacturer spent MONTHS developing and test marketing etc just so people would never forget which brand of car it is.

As far as the make and model on the rear, that's another thing we don't really discuss much. We might say, "did you see that Maxima 3.25? That was a cool color", but we'd have no reason to talk about the actual letters and numbers or the font or the size. I guess you could call it "name and engine size designation", but why??

You'd have to call the marketing departments at the car manufacturers to see what THEY call these letters and numbers; surely they have an official name for them.

  3. I think the answer to your first question is 'badge.'

I look forward to learning what Q2 yields. My car has 'S-class' on the LHS of the boot (trunk) and 'V8' on the RHS.
