Question:

Entry requirements for Universities....? (Scotland)?

When you apply for universities you have entry requirements such as BBBB at Higher, well i'm confused... :/

I would like to know two things:

1. Would the entry requirements of four Higher B's only be counted as the first sitting ? For example, say you needed one of those B's in Higher English and you failed it in 5th year and were to re-sit it in 6th year to get B, I mean would it still count or not ? Or if you only sat three highers in 5th year getting BBB and did more the next year getting a B, would this still count as your entry requirements, even though your qualifications have been spread out over two years?

2. When universities ask for this entry requirements, it also says 240 points on the UCAS tariff system. Would Int 2's and SG be included when counting up the points?

Sorry if this made no sense to you whatsoever by the way !

Thanks for your help anyways (:

  1. If the grades have to be achieved at one sitting it will be specified in the entry requirements for the course (this is the case for medicine and often dentistry and vet med too), otherwise, no - over 2 years is fine.

  2. Are you in S5 going into S6 this year? If so then I would use this year to re-sit the Highers and try to get better results.

    EDIT:

Right, so if you are going into S6 then re-take the Highers and hopefully you will do better. As for Art and English, I would aim to get an A in them. Try your best and study hard!

Hope this helps, best of luck. :-)
