We all know how factory emissions contribute to global warming but on the other hand, factories also employ millions of people. If you were a factory worker, why do you think factories should not be closed???

  1. 1. Factory emissions contribute very little to global warming. Power plants (particularly those burning coal, but also those burning natural gas) contribute far more.

    2. Factories can contribute other sorts of pollution (dangerous chemicals in the ground and water, foul gases in the air, etc.) but all of those conditions can be cleaned up without closing the factory - though at some expense to the owners.

    3. No one working in an area wants the factories in the area to close down. A factory closure hurts the entire local economy - not just the workers in that factory.

    4. Factories close down because the owners decide they can make more money by doing so - often by opening another factory where labor costs are cheaper.
