Question:

Etiquette at yahoo.?

I've only just joined yahoo answers, and it looks like there are just as many trolls here, as the last place I spent time. What is the usual etiquette here, in terms of dealing with trolls? Can I block them so I don't have to see their inane answers?

  1. Just block them & don't waste a second more of your time worrying about them.  I suspect there are thousands of people here & it's not likely you'll be pestered too often by anyone.  Just stay away from Campaign section & issues on Religion & Spirituality, as they seem to attract more of the nut cases.  Oh, & the ones on Immigration too > some pretty hostile people there also.

Most everyone I've encountered have been good.  We may agree to disagree, & that's fine.  The earth won't be any better or worse off for it.

Welcome aboard.  It does get addicting if you stick with it though.

  2. Unfortunately it does seem like trolls infest the internet especially places like Yahoo that are open to the public free of charge. To block another user go to their avatar and click on hover over it with your mouse. A little box will come up with 'block user' as one of the items. Click on that and you have blocked the person.

  3. They will only be blocked from answering your own questions, emailing you, viewing your Q & A and that sort of thing. You will still see their answers on other questions if the asker hasn't blocked them. You can try to report their answers which violate the Yahoo! Guidelines but I find it to be more of a lost cause. Trust me, there are a lot of intelligent users around here so eventually you'll find the trolls worth tolerating.

  4. I haven't figured that out either. I notice that there are some really bad trolls on gender and women's studies and I wonder why that place attracts them a lot. I haven't bumped into such really really vulgar people anywhere else on yahoo answers. Sorry I wish I could tell you how to get rid of trolls but I don't know how yet.
