  1. I remember seeing a documentary on New Orleans around a year ago. they were showing a state of the art hospital they had built that would be able to withstand a hurricane. It has generators for power which are in the upper levels instead of down on the ground-where they would be destroyed by water during a hurricane. Also has some sort of flood gates to hold back water.

Of course though that was just one hospital.

  2. I saw on cable news (not fox, don't worry) that they started to evacuate yesterday but they only had something like 43 icu patients transferred... and they had a lot of work left to do in that regard... they said they were moving patients to Houston and were unsure whether they would have to move them again... I wish i could give you a link...

That was the part that was really gut wrenching about Katrina (besides water on fire)... all those people in the ICU... and no power and no water... it was like no one cared to even think about that!  ... in a hurricane zone, no one had a comprehensive hurricane strategy.

It seems they did a lot since then to improve the evacuation and preparation for intense hurricanes.

  3. this time they will go for the over kill.

  4. I am sure that the hospitals are have their plans in action and know what they are doing at this time

  5. I am told that hospitals are suppose to take alot of damage... but If thay have to evacuate I would think they would do it by helicopter. So I'm not 100% on this answer...so... ya...
