Is "as new" really as new? The bargains look tempting but is it too risky? Recommendations of where to go would be helpful..:)

  1. the only way that I would buy "refurb" is if they offer the identical warranty as "factory fresh".

Refurbs could be items purchased and returned without complete box and packaging, could be items that were dead on delivery and repaired and cannot be sold as new.

  2. I  buy refurbished  power cords for my dell laptop.  They worked just as long as the regular ones.

  3. I have bought end of line, refurbs, returns, 'B'-stock and new-old stock with no problems.

I have also bought totally brand new electronics that have packed up after 12 weeks.

As long as you buy from a reputable seller (and most offer a 12 month warranty), you'll be fine.

  4. I regularly buy refurb Apple computers directly from the Apple online store at 30% or so less than RRP. The only difference is sometimes a lack of the original presentation packaging, but the products have always been perfect.
