Expired meat??????????

Question

I bought some ground chuck that has a "sell before Aug. 20" on it. It has been in the fridge since that date. Should it still be good after five days?

it is normally good for a day or two, but no more than that.  if you see that it is coming past the date or on the date and don't need it, just freeze it. beef keeps about 6 months in the freezer.

my name is amanda too! do not eat it because you could die and the  world needs more amandas. you could try feeding it to one of those dang pixies who eat all the tomatoes in my garden.

Absolutely not!  ANY time you question whether meat is good, always err on the side of safety.  If in doubt... throw it out!!  Once you purchase the meat, it should be used within a few days.  5 days is too long!!  Toss it!!

When you buy meat that will expire soon the best thing to do is either use it that day or freeze it until you are ready to cook. If it has been in the fridge for 5days Before using it please take the smell test if it smells rotten or funny throw it out dont use it. But if its fine use it right away.

Better safe than sorry. I would say No, but you can look at the meat and tell by color and smell.
