So this worksheets requires me to turn in my student tax return. I only earned $2000 last year so i didn't fill one out. But it still asks how much i made last year even if i didnt file a tax return. Should i just put $0 or $2000? if i put $2000 will I get less financial aid money?

  1. You need to list how much money you earned last year.  It doesn't matter that you didn't file a tax return.  2000 isn't that much money and isn't going to make a difference.  But if you don't list how much you made correctly it will delay everything and you won't be issued any fin aid until you give them what they need.

PS: the fin aid office doesn't want to know you made around 2000 last year, they want to know you earned 2351.00 last year.  Unless you made EXACTLY 2000 dollars, then listing 2000 is not the correct answer.... which is why you are likely being asked for this info.  Look on your W2 form and see what is listed in Box 1.  this is the correct answer.

PS: File a tax return. All that money listed on your W-2 that was withheld for taxes you will get back... why give the government your money when you need it for college?  I think you are legally required to file taxes if you earn like... 600 dollars or more.

    Good luck.

  2. You are required to file a tax return, firstly.

Also, the other answer is totally ace on this. They want to know exact amounts. No estimations. Put the amount you earned down. If it is like other verification sheets there will be an option to check if you did or did not file a tax return. Just check the "did not" option.
