  1. Free Application for Federal Student Aid

Its so you don't have to pay full price for schooling/books.

  2. If you are only a junior it is too early for you to complete the FAFSA so tell your mother it is pointless to fill it out so early.  You need to take the SAT as soon as possible so you have many more chances to enhance your score if you do poor the first time and so on.  Tell your mother to be concerned about the FAFSA when you become a Senior.  Your or your parent's can fill out the FAFSA as early as January 1st once you all have filed taxes for the current year. For example ... you should be a senior in August 2009 so once your parent's file their 2010 taxes then they need to fill out the FAFSA.

  3. FAFSA is very important.  It can lead to getting some free money to attend college.

It needs to be filled out your Senior high school year after January 1st.

  4. It's to help you receive financial aid for college. You actually wouldn't have to turn it in until the beginning of next year if your only a junior.

  5. FAFSA is a document that ruins lives of college students pretty much. It "determines" your financial "need" by using your parents income, even if you are paying for college by yourself. They then send the information to your college/colleges that you want to go to and then your schools figure out how much loan, grant, or scholarship money you will receive.

You cannot turn it in though until January 1st and doing it online is alot easier because you need a pin number for yourself and your parents and instead of waiting around for the mail to get it to you, you get an email. Just start on it right away in January, and you will be good. You have until March 31 I think to turn it in for the priority deadline.

Good luck, hopefully you will actually get enough money to pay for the rising cost of tuition, room and board, books, fees...

  6. The FAFSA is for college financial aid. You can only submit it for the upcoming academic year. In other words, you need to do it in the winter/spring semester of your senior year (January if possible, but they'll also accept it later) if you plan to go to college that fall. It wouldn't do you any good to submit it now, unless you're planning to graduate early.
