Not sure but this game is c**p.  I bought it for pc, $40 and sold it 2 days later.  too many control keys.

i think it sort of calls plays for different sets of players on your team. So, if you press one direction, it pushes your fullbacks up into attack. another i think sends your outside mids alongs the wings. You can change them in the pause menus under team mentality or or strategy i think
