FSB:DRAM 1:1 or 5.6 ?

Question

my system came with pc2-5300 1GB (512X2) and that gave my 1:1 ratio.

my computher cand hadle pc2-6400 so I bought 2GB (1X2) when I put them in my ratio changed to 5:6. does this mean my memory is bad if so, I need to return it. can some please help me I don't know anything abouth this. Thanks

Your memory is fine.  The ratio given is the FSB frequency compared to the RAM frequency.

Explanation:

PC2-5300 has a clock frequency of 333 MHz.  Since this gives you a 1:1 ratio, this means your FSB is also running at 333 MHz.

PC2-6400 has a clock frequency of 400 MHz.  The ratio of your FSB to your RAM frequency would be 333:400, or (approx) 5:6.
