  1. Oh, My!! Some of us have large stashes. Did you inherit this mess or how did you come by it?

I quilt, and sew most of my own clothing as well as some of my grandchildren's clothing. So my stash takes up most of one guest bedroom.

You could donate it to the Battered Adults Center or to the Pink Ladies Assn. or someplace like that and they would be most appreciative. Also there are the cancer hostels that need stuff for their auctions to keep costs at a minimum for families of patients while they are undergoing treatments.

In my town the Pink Ladies Assn are the volunteers at the hospital who make life a bit easier for patients. In the town near us at the Cancer Center is the Casa de Esperanza (House of Hope) hostel for the families and patients undergoing chemo and other treatments. They charge minimal and so always need funding to help these people.

  2. make some sheets, pillow cases, or curtains

    or just give them away

  3. You need to know what the different fabrics are (type, weight, and fiber content) before you decide what to make...  Different types of fabric are better for different things.

You also need to know how much of each fabric you have, to ensure there is enough to complete a project in the fabrics you want to use.,

  4. Get sewing for Christmas gifts.  I have quite a stash of fabric which I inherited.  I have made throws, napkins, placemats, table runners and squares, pillows, upholstered frames, boxes for gifts, scented drawer sachets and scarfs.  I also make these items for local charities that use them in their fundraising faires and auctions.

  5. You can make quilts with left over fabric.  Check out my site:http://www.appliquequiltdesigns.com for ideas.  I have directions on making traditional quilt blocks as well as applique baby quilts.  I am a self-taught quilter and it's not that hard to do.
