How do you make the rain stop falling directly before it hits the ground?

rain can be stop falling directly if it is intercepted..

naturally trees and other kind of plant with their various canopy can stop it falling directly

but we can also build canopy to stop it falling directly.

You put out a big water absorbent tarp, which doesn't let the rain hit the ground. Or sacrifice yourself. Or it is impossible.
