Family motto?

My family motto happens to be "History cannot be denied". Could someone explain to me what this could mean?

It means you cannot reject or distort your past ( the history of your family is not to be hidden or made prettier than it is ). It probably also means that there is much to be proud of in that history.

I think the history of your family cannot be hidden or reject,even though you try to make it perfect or to be part of someone else's.History of your family will always be in you,you can't change it.Let me take for e.g your family's past - like they always say-'You can't change the past.In fact,history is not always about the past..
