Question:

Fantasy board games?

Any single/multiplayer board games that are sci-fi / fantasy? Stuff like HeroScape and Runebound, etc (all I can think of D:). A top ten list would be nice if you have one.

It can be like a regular board game, or maybe like a more traditional Pen and Paper RPG. Thanks!

  1. There is a great list at Boardgame Geek. Link: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/23...

  2. We've been playing Descent a lot recently.  It's pretty awesome.  Usually we play D&D.

  3. Ever try an Avalon Hill game?  They have Starship Troopers.

    How about Risk: 2210 AD?

I have numerous Star Wars and Star Trek games.  Battlestar Galactica, Space: 1999, and Dr. Who,and Dune, can be found at flea markets and antique stores.  Krull, Close Encounters, Solarquest, Flash Gordon, E.T., Zaxxon, Spaceopoly, are also on my shelves.

Key to the Kingdom, Lionheart, Nightmare, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, and Atmosefear, could be considered fantasy, and are still available in some stores.

  4. If you are new to RPG/fantasy, I would start with some simpler ones:

HeroQuest is the simplest I'd say (out of print, try eBay)

Dungeon is also simple (out of print)

    Advanced HeroQuest  (out of print)

All three above you play one or more heroes going through a dungeon fighting monsters, and are pretty simple

    Intermediate complexity:

Battle Masters (out of print)  (this is an army vs. army game)

Runebound (very good...NOT out of print)

    Complex:

BattleLore (army vs army) NOT out of print

    Descent (not out of print)

And yes, Board Game Geek is the best place to look for pictures, reviews, strategies, etc for this.
