The 29-year-old Swiss tennis ace Roger Federer saw off his British number one arch rival Andy Murray in a Group B match of the ATP World Tour Finals tennis event, being held in London’s O2 Arena on Tuesday.
The current world number two living legend Federer totally outclassed the 23-year-old Scot Andy Murray in a one hour and sixteen minutes long battle of tennis. The staggering performance of Roger Federer has taken him to the semi-finals of the tournament
whereas the current world number five Andy Murray will now have to thrash the Spaniard David Ferrer to qualify for the next stage of the tournament.
Murray has always been a strong competitor against Federer and has outclassed the Swiss veteran at many occasions. No doubt a victory against Murray is not less than a sign to sigh for the Swiss as he has been waiting for a perfect revenge of the previous
defeats by the Briton.
After the match the Scot expressed his views to the media in a state of despair. He said that his performance in the match was totally discouraging and disappointing as he was struggling to serve well. He added that his efforts were totally under the par
as the way he was serving the ball and returning it was totally pitiable. Murray could only manage eight points off Federer’s serve in the whole match.
Murray said that Federer is one of the best tennis players in the world and to beat him is not at all easy. He added and said that a player has to give his full to grasp the victory against tennis greats like him.
The Scot said that he will now try to play his best game in his do-or-die match against the Spanish veteran David Ferrer to qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament.
On the other end the win against Murray was special for the current world number two Federer as Murray has thrashed him in the previous two matches. After the match the Swiss told the media that Murray is a strong player and a victory against him is certainly
very special.
Roger said that the match was not that tough for him as Andy was not able to play his best game and it was very surprising for him to see Andy struggling to serve well. He continued and said that the Scot was able to start the match well but remained under
par throughout the match.
