Feeding a kitten formula?

You are supposed to feed a newborn kitten every two hours, but how many ounces of formula to you give him each time?

usually, as much as he wants. he will fall asleep when full.

Here is a nice charge of the times and amounts you should be feeding your kitten.

I feel for you, a couple of years ago, I had 6 orphaned kittens.  The stray mom had be killed by car and a good samaritan rescued them and brought them to me.  They were a little older..about 10-12 days..their eyes were just starting to open.  It was a job and a challenge to keep these kittens fed and happy, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.  It took several months, but each went to a good, and carefully selected home.

a newborn on average would have 2mls per feed - one of those syringes you use for childrens medicine, full...

i don't know what that is in ounces, not much. Sometimes i swear the amount in the bottle/syringe GREW whilst trying to feed!

Prematures just an ounce will do, newborns to 5 days approx 2mls, then increasing...you shouldn't OVERFEED and should try to weigh the kittens daily & if they gain weight DAILY they are getting enough food, if they dont gain weight you need to give them more.

If he will not drink it you force it but VERY SLOWLY A DROP AT A TIME or you can kill him by getting it into the lungs..but he needs to feed or he will fade & die quick.

Cats are not like dogs... they just eat until they are full... so aspiration isn't as likely in kittens as puppies.

The formula would probably give you a guideline on the label so check that.
