I had a root canal Friday and had a bad infection in the tooth. He gave me a very strong pennicillin and some pain pills. I took some pain pills Friday night but only like one or two. took one Saturday. Haven't been feeling too "lively" since then. Don't feel bad but feel detached or something. Like I am in a cloud. Wife says it may be the anitbiotics... is this true?

  1. More likely to be the pain killers, what were they?

  2. it's most likely a mixture of both the pain meds and the antibiotics. For one the pain meds, even codine can make you feel a bit on the hazy side. and with the antibiotics your body is currently at war fighting infection, that for one can make you feel very exhausted. its probably going to take a full week til you start feeling normal again. Do yourself a favor and stop the pain meds asap, or at least use over the counter pain meds to null the pain instead. And drink lots of water to rid your body of infection quickly.

    Hope this helps

  3. Any sort of pain killer will make you really tired, if they are about the type of one that you can get off the shelf like tyelnol and aspirin.  Any of the over the counter ones like percocet and codeine and morphine can make you feel really groggy. The grogginess I believe will help you to come over the pain.  If you can not stand the tiredness talk with your doctor regarding this factor of the medicine.

  4. Sounds like the pain killers to me. If they are percocets, then yeah... they mess you up like that.
