  1. Just like humans!

  2. Some flys can "bite" as you call it, some cannot, whether they are male or female.  But, since Mosquitoes are a type of fly, it is true that only the female "bothers" to bite humans and other animals, because she feeds on blood to supply herself with the energy to produce and lay her eggs in the water.  The male Mosquito does not need blood, so he feeds on the nectar of flowers.

  3. ONLY FEMALES

  4. What's worse some species female's lay their eggs under your skin and they eat their way out when they hatch! Kinda make's ya sick thinking about it.

  5. Many female insects (ticks, mosquitoes...) need a blood meal before they can reproduce. And in many species, the males don't bite at all but feed on nectar and other sources of sugar.
