Question:

Female or male? Hermits.?

I have recently bought two hermit crabs and I was wondering something else. Can you tell if one is a male or a female?

Also what do you do if they do have babies?

Please go in detial with my questions, I need to know.

  1. look at the underside of the hermit crab where the legs connect to the body. On the last set of full legs you may see a small dot on each leg right where it connects to the body. If you see these dots then the animal is female, no dots male.

    Hermit crabs do not breed in captivity. They are a wild caught species. But if you were in such a situation where they were to lay eggs I would try calling the biology department of the closest university.  THey may be able to help. HErmit crabs need to lay their eggs in the ocean to survive.
