My familywants me to do some kind of sport to be active, so I'm trying boxing. I'd fight friends and that in the backyard with gloves for fun sometimes, and everything would be fine. But now, I've got this fear thing that's affecting my ability by quite a bit. I can't fight at all now. I don't want to get to know every openent to feel comfortable. I think it's the adrenaline working the wrong way. How can I make it so that I can fight to the best of my ability like I usually do? Like making the adrenaline work properly?

  1. go to a boxing gym and train with a real trainer which will give you experience and experience will give you the confidence to stay calm in the ring. also stop boxing with your friends in the backyard and go to a gym where you can learn for real.

  2. BLOGBABBLE

  3. adrenaline in boxing can be used for good but for beginners it is usually a bad thing. It makes you over react to punches that are not so hard, it makes you breath harder therefore losing your stamina quicker. It will diminish with time but remember you are fighting, so it will never go away completely.

Most fighters have fears and adrenaline before a fight, personally i found it works best for me to take it easy in the beginning of a sparring session. Take some deep breaths, and talk to myself. Self talk is a great tool for fighters especially who are over anxious.

I also like to be a bit defensive at first and let the other guy throw a few punches so that i can settle into the fight and focus on what my opponent is doing. Bernard Hopkins is a great example of this. He always starts slow and analysis his opponent early in the fight. The more experience you get the less anxious you will be.

Also once you take some hard punches and realize your OK after wards the less you ll be scared to get hit. That is of course unless you get knocked out.
