  1. how about muppet style

  2. either aikido as has already been suggested, judo - which follows a similar principal of getting your opponent off-balance, or tai-chi.

It should be noted that the main premise behind most martial arts (especially those originating from Asia) is mental discipline and technique rather than physical size - basically knowing where to strike someone is more important than how hard you do so.

To be honest, a smaller opponent is more worrying than a larger one and for a variety of reasons: smaller target area, more agile, generally faster, has less body-weight so is less likely to tire early and  has to get in closer (i know that sounds worrying, but think about it, if you're up against someone with a large reach then getting inside that can actually be quite frustrating and difficult for them to cope with).

I used to train in a form of Kung-Fu when I was younger and sparring against people my own height and build (6'1" and medium) was easier than sparring against someone shorter and lighter than me. Personally I prefer to use leg attacks (kicks, sweeps, etc) after all if you have long legs then you're more able to keep your opponent at a distance. However coming up against someone able to get inside that reach put me at a great disadvantage.

  3. Shuai Jiao

    Bagua

    Ju Jitsu

    Judo

    Aiki-jujitsu

  4. Ju Jitsu is best for shorter people

    leverage>muscle

its why typically in MMA lighter people have more submissions and heavier have knockouts

tho both intertwine all the time

  5. Taijutsu. The idea is to use body mechanics, leverage, and balance to defeat your opponent while using the whole body to maximize power. Shorter people tend to have an advantage over taller people because of the lower center of gravity, and while being light weight can seem like a disadvantage, the increased movement capabilities being thin offers are actually a bigger advantage. It's not easy by any means -- you need to be patient to learn to use your and the opponent's body weight to control the opponent instead of muscle, and to continue to move.

Take downs are done through mechanical and pain compliance, which will allow a "physically weaker" individual to take down a "physically stronger" opponent, especially when you learn the "direction of resistance" concepts.

I'm 6'1" and 165 lbs. I'm not the biggest person in my group by far, but I've been taken down by 5'1" 100 lbs. girls hard during training. Size is not an issue for us.

  6. really the only way to judge is by the school and the way they teach there. see what is available and try them out they should offer free trials and if they do not walk away if you need any more help we are always here

  7. You don't have to strain yourself for takedowns no matter what weight you are if you are doing the technique correctly.  Grappling is made for smaller people; it is the great equalizer.  If you don't believe me, watch UFC 1-5.  I suggest Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, wrestling or Judo.

  8. Wing Chun Kung Fu is a style  that's good for Females or smaller men. It was one of Bruce Lee's earlier styles and it work for him as you well know.

  9. I think Aikido would be best for you.  It focuses on agility, flexibility and speed much more than physical strength or size.  It's basically the art of using an opponent's strength and attacks against him.  It's pretty cool and it looks cool when you use it because it looks like you're kicking somebody's a** without really trying.  Check it out:

  10. taekwondo cas ya tallish and jujitsu or zendokai for takedowns.

  11. Judo

    Jujitsu

    Kajukenbo

    Hapkido

    CHA 3 kenpo

    Muay thai

    Shuai chao

    San s****.>
