  1. the trick is to go straight down dont like go up first n then down, its harder. also, dont like drop down, kinda go sowly.

  2. What I do, is I stand in a doorway and hold on to the doorframe. Then, I go down on one leg just like the sit spin and hold it at a low position for 30 seconds. Go down as low as you want, and make sure you have good form!! Do this about 10-30 times a day. You will build up your leg muscle and this will (should) make it easier to go down further. Also, make sure you reeeeaaaalllllyyyy stretch out before you skate, but don't hurt yourself or anything trying to stretch!! Good Luck!! :)

  3. if your doing sit spins and things like that u can...

    1. take a telephone book and put on the ground

    2. then put your heal on the book as if it was the boot of the sk8t

    3. practice every day and go up and down  and repet this

by doing this it will make your sit spin the best my coatch told me and i practiced at home and by the next practice it was 100% better and now its perfic

trust me it will be great best of luck

  4. over time you will get lower and lower some people are lucky and can get down there first instance, make sure your back is straight and not hunched and tuck your bum underneath you which will help with the lowness it wont work if your bum is stuck up in the air!, keep all weight forward.

you can do many things to practicing this, like T pots and off ice T pots, maybe get your coach to help you down further, and like someone mentioned on her sit in between the gates on the barriers go down to where you wanna go let go and see if you can hold this position if you can then you can do this if not you need to do a little more work, also sit ups help, stronger the tummy you can hold down, and try this exercise, skate around the rink and at the side of the rinks do about 3 T pots so go down then up down then up on one leg this will strenghen the tummy and legs.

  5. well the key thing in a sit spin is that you need to have strong legs to get down and back up again.  you could practice off the ice.  first sit on the ground and get into a low position from the floor.  when you can hold it for more than 10 seconds, try standing up and getting into the position.  then you can get down to the position and back up again more easily.  you could also practice shot the ducks.  it is gliding on the ice in a sit spin position.

  6. Definitely practice practice practice!

The more sit spins you do the better you will get at them, the correct muscle will build up and make it much easier for you to hold the right position and come back up. Also with more practice you will get more confident to go down further, its a balance thing. Once you go all the way down you'll wonder why it was so hard before! =]

    Hav fun skating

  7. try this off ice everyday.  hold you foot and straighten your leg as if you are going to do a shoot the duck.  keep going down and hold as long as you can.  hold onto the door for balance. you will feel a stretch in your thigh as you go up.  this will build up your leg muscles for your sit spin.

    Good luck!
