Question:

Filipino Woman: Best Job Option

by  |  earlier

Hi. I have a 23 year old female friend that lives in Mabalacat, Pampanaga, Philippines. She has online job experience, but not any traditional job experience. She has a high school education. I am trying to help her find a better job.

I could help her start a store or internet caffe in the Mabalacat area, or I could try to help her get a job abroad. She tells me there are not jobs available in her area.

What is a realistic monthly profit for a small store or an internet caffe in the Mabalacat area? Are there better job opportunties?

Is there much demand outside the PI for a person with her experience and skills? If so, should she use an employment agency? Which one?

Thanks for any advice on this

  1. No, there's no demand and certainly a very little chance for her to be hired  outside of the Philippines for a decent job unless she's already residing abroad and just applying to a local company there..

An internet cafe's profit can range from $200 to $400 a month (or more)..

The initial capital would be around $20,000 to set-up the shop and buy equipments..

The only thing she might qualify for provided that she is pretty, would be a position as a singer or an entertainer in Japan.. Another one would be applying as a maid overseas usually in the Middle Eastern Countries and HongKong.. They are usually called domestic helpers.. Those are the jobs most sought out by Filipinas who do not have enough education and job skills.. Actually, even college graduates who had no luck but looks good do those things...

The best she can do now if she doesn't like those options is just to finish college..

  2. I agree with Leander.. It is almost impossible for her to get a decent job outside the Philippines. h**l... even the graduates don't always get a decent job. Some of them landed as a domestic helper and construction worker in Middle East. Your friend level of education would be better off as being a domestic helper only in asian or middle eastern country. Shes considered lucky if she gets hired in european like italy, france and belgium.

It's foolish of her to tell you that there's no job available in her area. There are a lot of jobs in every area. It's up to the person's determination how to get one. She can work in a call center for an american company if she can talk fluently in english, or if shes not there's a local call center that requires tagalog. There's an email and chat account as well that all they do is email and chat all day. Those job don't really require a college degree.

Now if you gonna give her a small store or an internet cafe, I say how lucky of her. I hope WE people find someone like you so we don't need to find a job. Goodluck!
