Question:

Finch vs. new holland honey eater ?

when i hang my little finch's house outside in the sunshine out the front, a new holland honey eater comes from nowhere and starts jumping all over the cage and swooping at her. my finch flutters all over her cage and the honey eater chases her. he/she sits on top of the cage and i'm not sure if this is a friendly thing or some sort of crazy bird attack. maybe he/she has a nest nearby? this never happened when i had my budgies outside though. any ideas?

  1. This is just a guess, but could it be that it was afraid to attack the budgie, but views the finch as an easier target?  Budgies can be combative with birds that they don't get along with, but finches may just fly away to avoid conflict.

Another thing to consider is that some bird species can get along than others.  Some combinations just don't work.
