Find Cheap projector?

Question

I'm looking for a projector- that either plays DVDs or can hook up to a DVD player. I don't even need it to have sound. Do all of these digital projectors have sound or not? I want something new (not used or refurbished- don't want to go through that again), but cheap- an older model will be fine. How come these products don't depreciate like the rest of technology? Price range $300 or less. Help would be much appreciated.

You are not going to find anything decent for that price unless you are open to refurbished units ... and even then it's a stretch.  The basic reason is that the lamp alone costs $300+.  A reasonable minimum for a new projector is about $500 ... and it will most likely be a mediocre performer with video (they are designed for business presentations).  You need a "home theatre" model.

Some projectors have speakers built in, but in almost all cases they are very, very basic (only useful for voice).  It's normal to feed the sound from a DVD player to and amp/receiver and speakers, and only send the video to the projector.
