First Baseman?

Question

Would you drop Carlos Delgado and pick up Jorge Cantu? Jorge has 1B eligibility in my league. I know that historically Carlos Delgado has been a better first baseman, but he is not having a great year and Jorge Cantu is hitting pretty hot right now. I also have Nick Swisher as a utility player and considered moving him over to first and also dropping Carlos. Any thoughts?

Defiantly grab Cantu.  Many forget that he had an outstanding year with teh Rays 3 years ago.  And now hes back.  And hes swinging a hot bat in a hot lineup.

Well neither Delgado or Swisher are doing that well. But Delgado is done, Swisher I was high on until the season started. I would definitly still keep Swisher though and drop Delgado for Cantu if thats what you really want to know. If Cantu is the best available player out there then yes do it. But do not make your decision on just his season rank. Base your decision on whether he has done good the past week and see if he has done good the past month. He could be in a slump and there could be someone who is just heating up. So make sure you look at past performance not just season totals.

Delgado has been woeful from a fantasy point of view all season. History has nothing to do with fantasy, current performance is paramount.

Cantu has just had a second multi home run game and has been driving in runs for several weeks now, he's a solid 1b/3b option. Playing in the heart of a hot Marlins team should guarantee production, which will get better once Hammer returns.

Swisher should be a solid performer from now on in. he seems to have settled in Chicago and the 1b/of designation doesn't hurt.

Drop Delgado, keep Swisher, pick up Cantu.

you should drop carlos delgado. the mets have been pretty bad so far. jorge cantu hit two more HRs tonight, and he's been on fire lately. you should definitely pick him up. the marlins have a decent batting lineup which will give cantu plenty of opportunities to produce.
