what are some good cars to start out with , i want something different also something that wont kill me on insurance and gas ,,,,,,,i want something thats a bit rare and can go fast , incase later on when i become a better driver i can make the car even fast and race worthy ,,,,,,,,or atleast a car thats already fast enough,,,,,,ppl got old and new mustangs, crossfires and corvettes etc at highschool, i want something thats still able to stand against those cars without looking wimpy,........i was thinking of civic's and all those type of cars, but they are too slow, and not good looking , eclipse arnt fast either , my budget is $5000, i know it might not be much but i want a used car , the first generation Rx7's fit my need, but they are very high on gas as well as very reliable, porsche 944 is also a car i am thinking of but i dont know if they'b fast enough or good lookers to the competion,,,,,, what about GTI VR6 1997-1998 ,are they fast enough , how about the gas mileage on those

  1. You seem to want a car that has a combination of features and characteristics that will very difficult to find. Fast cars are expensive to insure and will not be fuel efficient. Older and cheap fast cars have most likely been run hard and not maintained well.

    I suggest going middle of the road with a Honda Civic. They are reliable, get decent gas mileage, look good, are relatively cheap to insure, and there are thousands of after-market parts available to improve looks and performance. Add the parts that give it a rare and unique look, and make it fast. And you can do it as you get the money -- you don't need all the money up front.

    but check with your insurance co. first some have been charging inflated rates for these cars.
