  1. deet "OFF"

    the right kind of clothes

    lighter

    enough food

  2. clothes, thick clothes! and a brain!

  3. u should go to a store called REI they're like the ultimate camping and outdoors store u could ask one of the ppl who works there, but here r somethings u may need to have:

    1.Tent (probably 2-3 person)

2.Sleeping Bag (u'll need the really heavy kind because it can get really cold at night)

    3.Flashlight

4.Camping Plates (there r certain kinds that r plastic and durable and very good for camping)

5.As many changes of clothes that u would usually bring on a trip

6.A very durable dufflebag to hold all this

7.All the food ur going to eat on the trip (if u want it to be a real camping experience then u wont be eating any fast food for a while)

8.Really good durable well suported hiking boots

Anything else u can think of. Like I said before u shld go ask a professional

  4. Talk to the girlfriend find out if she has experience in camping. If she does have her help you get ready.

Most basics are common sense. Tent, sleeping bag, cooler with food, caned goods, stove for cooking etc...

Keep it simple... and remember these three things...

1 Don't forget the can opener! Matches and lighter!

2 No food in the tent or items that have food on them *** avoid unwanted guests in the tent; ants , squirrels , raccoons , bears! *** trouble with bears is very rare; don t feed them they don t need encouragement, but if they want to eat get out of the way. They have been know-en to make new doors in cars and campers, before raiding the ice box. Keep your site clean and dispose of trash in the designated area. Without food they will avoid your site, and continue their adventure else where.

3 Keep your sense of humour, pack extra sense of humour and deck of cards or games that too can play!

Have fun  and best of luck!

P.S. Read one or two books on the subject for next years camping adventure! Relax you wont master camping in one trip. It takes a life time and that is what makes it fun and an adventure worth repeating.

  5. Make sure you water proof your tent!(Camp Dry in a can) get it at walmart.  Know how to put up your tent before you go(do a practice run in backyard.)  Must have long stakes(the things you put in the ground to hold tent down)  Take a cooler and have plenty of ice for your food.   Take bug spray! Chairs to sit by the fire. The long forks for marshmallows and hot dogs.   If they don't sell it at camp site get some dry wood(logs)   Have safe dry place for matches or lighter.  Just think what you will need for eating outside(like a picnic).  Ketchup, buns, and mustard.  Have fun!

  6. i'm an experienced camper, so here's some stuff to do:

    1. get a good tent, i recommend one that has a bottom. if it rains, a pool will form in the bottom if you have a bottomless tent.

    2. bug stuff and sunscreen. LOTS of them. evenings and mornings are usually buggy. also bring thick socks for protection against bugs.

    3. warm things. it gets cold at night most places, and it's nice to have a hat in the evening.

    4. nalgene bottles! nuff said.

    5. headlamps are nicer than flashlights. they're not too expensive, and you can do stuff with both hands. careful not to point them in people's eyes. it's infuriating, and i still accidentally do that all the time, haha.

    6. lock up all your food at night. i don't know what wildlife is like in yosemite, but i know N. CA has bears.

    7. bring daypacks for hiking. freeze dried fruit comes in handy, because it's light and tastes good. bring energy bars too. :)

    8. bring clothes that you don't mind getting dirty and/or ruined. i haven't been on one camping trip where haven't ruined at least one item of clothing. usually from burns from campfires.

    9. usually they have water and bathrooms at campsites, but bring TP anyway, for hikes (if you plan to go on any).

    10. pick a campsite away from the rest (it's nicer to be more secluded), and not too close to the water. the closer to water, the buggier it's going to be.

    11. we always bring frisbees (i don't know if you like playing at all, but just in case). it's really fun on camping trips.

    12. good sleeping bags and pads are a necessity. i cannot stress this enough. oh, and if you don't want to bring pillows, bundled up clothes do the trick.

    13. DEFINITELY double-check camp before you leave. we always leave stuff by accident. not fun.

okay, there's my list of stuff to do to be prepared. have fun! :D

  7. take OFF spray,

    Lighter,

    FOOD,

    and a bar of soap

  8. Clothes:  Check the weather like 2 days before, and pack for clothes for the day. Nighttime is a different story, it gets a lot colder some nights, so pack like a hoodie or a sweater and some pajama pants. Heavy comforters and lots of blankets help to.

Food: Bring stuff that wont spoil too fast. Either way bring coolers filled with ice. Bring grill food, steaks, hot dogs, burgers, or easy stuff to cook. buy like a grill that can go over your campfire, food tastes better [in my opinion] and it's just easier; and it needs to be like embers after the fire dies down to cook food, so don't cook it in the flames. marshmallows, chocolate, and gram crackers ;D!

Other: Bring like news paper cardboard or fire starter, so you can start your fire. TP, either clear the place you are going to sleep really well or bring stuff to put underneath. Lots of blankets if it gets cold. Anything else to fill time and have fun, fishing?

  9. Well when you go camping it wouldnt hurt to bring mosquito repellent. Also bring some firewood unless they supply it for you. Having alot of firewood can be nice. Bring some lighters ropes and plastic bags. Use the rope and plastic bags to put your trash in one and the food in the other. Look for a branch that has some height on it so bears dont go at it. Also depends on what kind of food you plan to bring. If you plan on going hiking peanut butter jelly sandwhiches help alot cuz they give you a whole lot of energy and takes a while to digest. its good to bring water but bring alot of water because you might need it. Are you going to use a sleeping bag or air bed? if you plan on using a sleeping bag make sure you buy some comfy mats to put under so you wont sleep on anything pointy or hard. The airbeds nuff said =].

Oh yeah when you look for a camping spot try to find a spot thats flat and not slanted. make sure you bring socks and shoes cuz youll never know what you might step in.

Thats about the basics for camping o.0

Oh yeah bring a sweater just incase. It wouldnt hurt.

Hope this helped. =] Have fun camping. Be safe

  10. duct tape

    utencils

    lot's of food!

big tub o ware containers to store food (because there are a lot of bears that will try to eat your food)

wood (which might already be there)

    lighter fluid

    lighter

    basic toiletries

    ice chest

  11. Here is a great site with a list of things you might want to bring it

    http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores...

I think a couple of tarps and rope and extra tent pegs(the ones that come with tents tend to break) and Duct tape are very important.   Everything else i would suggest is on the web site and you can print it out.

One of the best tips i can give you is set up the tent before you go so you know how it goes up.  The first time you put it up will take forever and it better to do at home where you can curse in private. LOL

    Have a great time!!!!
