Question:

First period after baby?

I am unfortunately not very lucky and have started my period 12 weeks after giving birth (despite continuous breastfeeding - and no supplementing). What I was wondering is the first period after giving birth characteristic of the rest of the periods I'm going to get? The reason I am asking is that its pretty light, and I'm not having any cramps or PMS symptoms (something I used to get really bad before I got pregnant). I know I ovulated this cycle too (not sure if that makes a difference).

Thanks in advance!

  1. unfortunately its not a sign that you will have better periods..I wish I could say it was. Your body is like...starting over so things are "right" yet.  They can be better though, they do change sometimes after a baby sooo good luck :)

  2. Hard to say.

I started mine 6 weeks after giving birth, despite breastfeeding exclusively, and my first one lasted 14 days. After that I got normalish periods in terms of flow, but every three weeks instead of once a month for about 6 or 8 months, before it finally settled back into a normal schedule. My body hates me, basically.

Before I got pregnant, though, I always had really bad periods and since giving birth they've been pain free and mostly PMS free. I've noticed I get really irritable a day or two before my periods starts now, but pre-baby I used to get physical as well as mood symptoms and those are now pretty much gone.

Hopefully you'll et lucky and they will continue to be lighter and easier!
