Did you ever hear of fish species cross breeding? example: a bass and a pike

  2. Yes.  Closely related species do produce hybrids.  White crappie and black crappie (Pomoxis) mate and produce a viable hybrid.  Sunfish (Lepomis) do as well, the green sunfish can hybridized with several other sunfish species.  Smallmouth bass  occasionally hybridize with largemouth bass.

    Pike (Esox) and bass (Micropterus) are totally different species, totally different evolution, no chance of mating.
