I have a 75 gallon fish tank and a list of fish. Is the tank overstoked or is it okay.

1 fire eel

6 giant danios

3 bala sharks

5 clown loaches

1 red tail shark

2 firemouths

All the fish are juveniles and i know that the bala will get big but it will be a while before that, Thanks

  1. It is not overstocked, but bala sharks can not be housed together! As babies, maybe. Once they get older they will start killing each other. I say take out 2 of the bala sharks and they should be fine!

  2. That is plenty of room for the fish you listed. Just make sure those fish are compatible with each other.

  3. that sounds fine for now, just keep an eye on the fire eel, bala shark and loaches' sizes, the eel can grow up to 20" in an aquarium, bala shark 16", and the loaches will grow to around 6", as will the giant danio.

you could really do with a bigger tank :)

    nice mix, good luck!!

  4. Your clown loaches will get big over time too... they can get to 30cm each.. and your red tail will get to a few inches..

I don't really know much about the gallons, because I work with litres, but I think it sounds alright. ;)

  5. Your best bet is to follow the rule of inches. For how many inches the adult size of your fish is to that many gallons of water.

So for a 75 gallon fish tank, that would be about 75 inches of fish.

I'm not sure how big all of those fish get, but get their adult size and that should help you out. :D
