  1. I just caught some on a worm yesterday, and it was my first time. I'm sure they will eat anything.

  2. I catch alot of small catfish on red worms, and crawdad tails.  For big channel catfish (with the yellow bellies) and blue catfish (whitish gray bellies) my friends and I have had the best luck with hot dogs (the #1 choice) and chicken livers (you can get them from any grocery store).  Some old timers even spray a little WD-40 on the chicken livers (they say it helps carry the scent further, I'm not super sure it works so good though).  I would say more importantly though is how you rig your bait.  I prefer a leader with a string through a sliding weight, so that the fish can pull on the bait a little ways so that it feels more "natural".  Some of my buddies prefer the weight solidly attached to the end of the line, with 2 hooks on the leader.  Night fishing is best, and we've caught some big ones.

    Happy fishing.

  3. most cat fish eat anything.  when i was a kid i used bread, corn anything i could get on a hook

  4. hot dogs work everytime!!!

  5. Try and catch some bluegill, or shiners. Cut them in chunks and use them . keep them fresh and cold you dont want them to get smelly,.

Shad is a favorite of mine but they need to be castnetted unless you find a place to buy them.

And fresh shrimp also works but is a bit pricey to catfish with.

You can use chicken liver or nightcrawlers for the smaller catfish

  6. anything that stinks ie: cut bait, clam snouts , worms, minnows, prepared baits, chicken livers, most can be purchased at local bait stores
